Dear Deeply Readers,

Welcome to the archives of Refugees Deeply. While we paused regular publication of the site on April 1, 2019, we are happy to serve as an ongoing public resource on refugees and migration. We hope you’ll enjoy the reporting and analysis that was produced by our dedicated community of editors and contributors.

We continue to produce events and special projects while we explore where the on-site journalism goes next. If you’d like to reach us with feedback or ideas for collaboration you can do so at [email protected].

On Wednesday, December 21, Refugees Deeply will host our first live talk, in which we go behind the scenes of our investigation “The Manufacture of Hatred: Scapegoating Refugees in Central Europe” and discuss the connection between propaganda, xenophobia and migration in Central Europe and beyond.

Adrian Edwards, head of news and media at UNHCR, Marta Pardavi, cochair of the Hungarian Helsinki Committee, and Aron Demeter, spokesperson of Amnesty International, Hungary will join the author of the story, Refugees Deeply’s senior editor Daniel Howden, to discuss the story and its broader implications.

Tune in to News Deeply’s YouTube Channel on December 21 at 10:30 EST/15:30 CET to watch the conversation live. Sign up on Eventbrite and send us all your questions about the story and the bigger picture by email, Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #ManufacturingHatred – or submit them live during the broadcast.
