In our effort to showcase unseen images of the Syrian crisis, we’ve featured the work of News Deeply contributor Nicole Tung. Tung is a 26-year-old American photojournalist whose pictorials from Syria have been published in TIME magazine, The New York Times, and other global news outlets. The Hong Kong native is a graduate of New York University and has traveled in and out of Syria since the early months of the war. Since March, Tung has spent much of her time in Aleppo. Here, she travels through many of the city’s hardest-hit neighborhoods photographing demonstrations and reactions to the second anniversary of the start of the Syrian war — a day that Syrians, hoping for a faster resolution to the conflict, hoped they’d never see.
